Microsoft Health Users Group 2012 Innovation Awards
Healthcare organizations are uniquely positioned to improve the quality and delivery
of healthcare through evidence‐based medical innovations and smart technology solutions.
The Microsoft Health Users Group 2012 Innovation Awards, now in its fifteenth year,
is an opportunity to showcase how your organization and/or your customer’s
organization, is using technology to enhance and transform the quality of patient
care, reduce costs, streamline clinical and business processes, drive interoperability,
improve productivity and workflow, and enable informed decisions.
The Microsoft Health Users Group 2012 Innovation Awards are presented annually to
the healthcare organization and technology solutions partner—with which it
has collaborated—that best demonstrates industry leadership in using technology
to achieve innovation excellence.

Who should enter?
The award committee will accept nominations from qualifying healthcare-related organization*
worldwide, which has developed and implemented a solution independently or working
with a technology solution partner, as long as the solution is based on the latest
Microsoft technologies. The award emphasizes the innovative application of available
software and the creation of new solutions.
*Healthcare organizations examples include: hospitals, health systems, clinics, group
practices, public health organizations and health plans.
Why should you enter?
- Winners will be featured in promotional and marketing activities, such as a press
release, web content, as well as possible media interviews.
- Winners will receive a “Winner” trophy.
- Winners will receive a marketing document on how to publicize the fact that the
organization is a winner. Includes a “winner” specific logo to use for
all your marketing materials.
How do we pick the winner?
An independent panel of Judges will pick one winner from the qualified submissions
received in each of the five categories below. The solution (or combination of solutions)
can be offered by any qualifying company worldwide as long as it is based on the
latest Microsoft technologies (please read 2012 MSHUG Innovation Awards Contest

- Flexible Mobile Workstyle Solutions
The use of personal devices, including laptops, tablets, slates, and smart phones,
is transforming the way healthcare and the life sciences professions collaborate
and access and use information and applications.
Microsoft Flexible Workstyle Solutions for Health and Life Sciences support the
growing consumerization-of-IT trend by providing virtually anywhere connectivity,
personalized experiences, and an intelligent infrastructure. Individuals can use
their own devices, while information and communication technology (ICT) departments
maintain the control and manageability, and security required to help protect patient
information and meet compliance regulations.
Entries will be judged primarily on the following
1. The innovation represents a breakthrough from the industry’s historical
2. The innovation goes beyond incremental improvements on technologies that already
3. The innovation measurably improves significant business and/or clinical processes
that positively impact patient care.
The entry period ends on Friday, February 3rd, 2012, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. No
entries will be accepted after the entry period closes.

Winners to be announced at the Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, February20-24,
